With a tradition of innovation, we felt the most appropriate way to celebrate our heritage would be through a creative process. Involving the complete graduating BA Dance class, this dialogue-based process is being lead by Avatara Ayuso, a graduate of the Palucca University from the D.A.N.C.E. Programme in 2007 and the Artistic Master Class in 2008.
Inspired by the works of Wassily Kandinsky and the Symphony n 3 of Philip Glass, Symphonie in Rot will call upon the students’ creative abilities and give them a chance to explore dance in an interdisciplinary manner. Avatâra Ayuso is fast becoming one of the “movers and shakers” in the Dresden scene and since 2010,is the Artist in Residence in Hellerau, European Centre for the Arts. As much as it is a risk to commit to present an excerpt of a “yet to be created work” in such a highly visible event as the Biennale, we felt this creative process to be a true representation of our heritage. In early 2012, Avatara Ayuso will select the section to be presented during the Biennale involving 10 of the 23 students and the premiere of the full-length work will take place in Dresden on the 17th of February 2012.
