In regard to the topic CULTURAL HERITAGE in DANCE important happenings and developments have taken place in the education field Contemporary and Classical Dance (ZuKT) at HfMDK since 2nd Dance Education Biennale/ Tanzplan Deutschland 2010. The jubilee "50 Years in Dance Education" at HfMDK in October 2011 was a good reason to deal with heritage in dance education. Since HfMDK's founding in 1961 a lot of processes have been set in motion. We look back with pleasure, gratefulness and pride. We build on the experiences, create the present and look forward bravely. From this view „back to forward“ resulted an extensive festival journal with a documemtary by Prof. Susanne Noodt and many more texts, photos and materials. Documentation is one of the central themes of 3rd Dance Education Biennale 2012 Frankfurt am Main and will be dealt with in some Workshops and lectures. In the past years some project around this theme have been started in Frankfurt, as for example: Motion Bank by The Forsythe Company, Oral History Projects in cooperation with Dr. Jeff Friedman or the Round Robin Project, by Nancy Stark Smith, Prof. Dieter Heitkamp and Norbert Pape. The continuation of the master course MAztp under the leadership of Prof. Ingo Diehl for contemporary dance pedagogy and MA CuP for Choreography and Performance, which has been developed in cooperation with the Institute for applied theater science at Justus-Liebig-University Gießen, have been successfully safed after the project Tanzplan Deutschland expired.

ZuKT graduates take part in creating a lively and active local freelance dance scene. Members of ID_Frankfurt/ Independent Dance will present their artistic projects in the frame of the Biennale. Other important partners and supporters of the local dance network, such as Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, Frankfurt LAB, Tanzlabor_21 or the Hessian Theatre Academy have given their encouragement to us for the application to organise 3rd Dance Education Biennale and will help realise the event. The examination with dance creation in Frankfurt plays a major role in developing the study themes. ZuKT students have now once more dealt with a work by William Forsythe: „Hypothetical Stream“ from 1997, as they did in the frame of 2nd Biennale withDie Befragung des Robert Scott.

Regina van Berkel has taken part in the development process and has danced this piece. In a 3-week work phase students of the 3rd and 4th year got the possibility to deal intensely with this choreography under the direction of Regina van Berkel. They could win a point of view through Video-material, have interpreted reworked sketches of the painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, that built the piece's base. The movement material by Regina van Berkel from the original Version has been rehearsed, varied and absorbed. And the students created their own sequences from the original Forsythe-material for Hypothetical Stream. These have been adapted to the readaptation by Regina van Berkel. From this working process the students developed the structure for „Revisiting concepts and materials fromHypothetical Stream.
