Prof. Dr. Jeff Friedmann

Jeff Friedman is Associate Professor, Department of Dance, at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University (New Jersey/U.S.A.). He is founder and senior editor of Legacy, an oral history project for the San Francisco, California dance communities since 1988, archived at the San Francisco Museum of Performance & Design (www.mpdsf.org/legacy). Jeff has consulted with dance communities throughout the U.S. and in Korea on the creation of dance oral history projects based on Legacy's model. Friedman is a practicing choreographer, dancer and Laban Movement Analyst, with a Ph.D. in dance history and theory from the University of California-Riverside. His Fulbright Fellowship in Germany through August 1, 2010 supports research and teaching in the areas of dance oral history, dance reconstruction and critical embodiment studies.
