Frank Andersen

Frank was born in 1953 and trained at the Ballet School of the Royal Theatre. Frank In 1971 he became a dancer at the Royal Danish Ballet, where he was appointed principal dancer in 1977. Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Ballet from 1985 to 1994. Artistic Director of the Royal Swedish Ballet from 1995 to 1999. Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Ballet from 2002 to 2008. Originator of the Bournonville Group with principals of the Royal Danish Ballet 1976, touring with the group in USA 1976, '77, '78, '79, '82, '85 and '86, Canada and Scandinavia 1977, Central America 1978, France, Italy and Israel 1979, West Germany 1980, '81 and '83, Sweden, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Thailand 1980, Finland, Holland and Italy 1981, France, Hong Kong and Malaysia 1985 and touring in Denmark from 1976. Director of several August Bournonville Balletproductions since 1988 for the Royal Danish Ballet, The Royal Swedish Ballet, The Finnish National Ballet, The State Ballet of Georgia, The National Ballet of Cuba, The National Ballet of China, The INOUE ballet of Tokyo, The National Ballet of Slovenia, The National Ballet of Estonia, The National Ballet in Prague The Stanislawskij Theatre Ballet in Moscow, The Vietnam National Opera Ballet, The Liaoning Ballet in China and the Maggio Dance Company in Italy. Member of the board of Minister of Cultural Affairs Niels Mathiesen's Memorial Foundation from 1980, President from 1993 President of the jury, Prix de Lausanne ballet competition, 1990 and 2010. Artistic Director for Nina Ananiashvili and International Stars, from 1993 Artistic Advisor for the Inoue Ballet, Japan, from 1995-2002 Artistic Advisor for the National Ballet of China, from 1997-2002 Member of the Artistic Committee for New York Choreographic Institute from 2002 Artistic Advisor for New York International Ballet Competition Artistic Advisor for the Beijing Dance Theatre, from 2008 The Dance Magazine Award, 2002 Man of the Year, Danish-American Society, 2004 The Royal Medal of Recompense with crown and inscription, 2005
