Video has meanwhile become an indispensable medium for the preservation of information in dance. Under the auspices of the Biennale on the subject of CULTURAL HERITAGE DANCE, this workshop on video documentation will provide a lively and stimulating discussion on visual representation in various formats and forms of dance. How much abstraction is necessary and possible in documentation, how much interpretation and involvement is helpful. To what purpose is something being documented, who are the users?

With a group of MA students from various universities we will develop and discuss in small teams an adequate language for the documentation of training, workshops, performances, as well as atmosphere and spoken formats

The workshop will also continue with its research outside the indicated workshop hours; in this sense, flexibility time-wise is explicitly welcomed. The material produced during the workshop will be part of a documentation of the 3. Dance Education Biennale edited by Andrea Keiz.
