Dr. Freya Vass-Rhee holds a PhD in Dance Theory and History from the University of California, Riverside. Her primary research interests are in the area of cognitive psychology of dance. After a 16-year career as dancer, ballet master, choreographic assistant and choreographer, she completed a BA in Linguistics and Cognitive Science at the University of California, Los Angeles. Since 2006 she has worked as dramaturg and production assistant with The Forsythe Company in Frankfurt, as well as as a freelance dramaturg, including at the Semperoper in Dresden. Between 2002 and 2005, she instructed at the University of California, Riverside and St. Mary's College of California. Since 2008, she has been an instructor at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main in the MA Course Zeitgenössische Tanzpädagogik.
