Contemporary Dance
Based on the Humphrey-Limon tradition and various additional techniques, such as release, Capoiera, etc. we will work on an impulsive, expressive style of dance.
By partnering with the floor, the articulation of the body and its placement is explored. Awareness for gravity and centrifugal force, as well as the various qualities of the falling-rebound-recover principle are translated to floor work.
The off-balance phase is given special attention, for it significantly supports the size of movement in space with minimum energy effort. Dynamic combinations combine into an experience of space, body, time always in a very tight connection to the floor. With a focus constantly directed on the flow and the organic development of the movements, the class seeks to impart knowledge on a technically, as well as stylistically broad range of modern movement elements.
